Waterwheel Tickets and Prizes

Quick answer

Waterwheel Tickets arrive as time passes and as rewards for hide-and-seek requests found with the drone camera. Spend them at the Waterwheel next to the Creative Labo for coins or special hairstyles the shops do not sell.

Waterwheel Tickets are the second currency in Hello Kitty Party Land and the only one you cannot earn by playing well. They arrive on a clock, and the Waterwheel spends them on prizes you cannot buy any other way.

The two sources

SourceHow it works
TimeTickets are obtained after a certain amount of time passes — the counter fills while you are away
Hide-and-seekCharacters in Hometown and other areas ask you to find someone; help them with the drone camera and the reward is tickets

The first source is passive and the second is active, and together they are the whole supply. No board pays tickets, no shop sells them, and mini-games do not drop them.

The Waterwheel

The Waterwheel sits next to the Creative Labo. Spend tickets there to draw for prizes. The two prize types the manual names are coins and special hairstyles — the hairstyles are the interesting half, because they are not shop stock.

That makes the Waterwheel the only route to certain hair. If you have seen a hairstyle you cannot find in the Shopping Mall, this is why.

Hide-and-seek, properly

The request is simple and the reward is real: a character asks for help finding someone, you look using the drone camera, and you get tickets. Three practical notes:

  • The drone camera is the tool for this, not the tripod or the selfie stick. Switching cameras is a button press on the default layout.
  • Requests appear in Hometown and other areas, so talking to characters as you walk is the trigger.
  • The reward is tickets, not coins, which means a hide-and-seek detour is the only way to speed the Waterwheel up by playing.

Why the tickets matter more than they look

The Waterwheel is the one system in the game that runs on real time rather than on a session. That has two consequences worth planning around:

  • Check the counter at the start of a session, not at the end, so tickets earned while the console was off are already banked.
  • Do not sit on tickets during a hairstyle hunt. The draw is the only place hairstyles come from, and there is no other use for the currency.

Tickets versus coins

CoinsWaterwheel Tickets

GrindableYesOnly through hide-and-seek requests

The important asymmetry: coins are grindable, tickets are not. A long session does not produce tickets faster than a short one, so the efficient habit is to do the hide-and-seek requests you are offered and let the clock do the rest.

Where to go next

The town layout, including where the Waterwheel sits relative to the Labo, is on hometown map. The coin economy and the shop rules are on coins and shopping. If you are collecting hairstyles for photos, the camera guide covers the three cameras and the Photo Studio backdrops.
