Coins, Shopping and Outfit Sets

Quick answer

Coins come from board results and other modes and are spent at the Shopping Mall. Trying clothes on is free, the Make-Up Salon is free, uniforms cannot combine with tops or bottoms, and Favorites holds eight sets.

Coins are the only currency you spend on yourself, and the Shopping Mall is the only place to spend them. The system is small but has three rules that catch people out: uniforms cannot be mixed with tops or bottoms, colours are picked after the style, and only eight outfits can be saved.

Where coins come from

SourceHow it pays
Board game resultsPaid after the results screen, scaled by how the run went
Other modesMini-games and town activities pay on completion
Mini-game playWinnings land directly in the wallet

Coins are not difficulty-locked and there is no way to buy them. The reliable loop is a board run: finish it, take the payout, spend it on clothes.

The shop flow

Shopping in this game is not a menu. You walk to a shelf and control your partner to buy.

  1. Stand in front of a shelf and press the interact button. The item appears on the Game Pad.
  2. Read the number at the bottom. That is the price. If you already own the item, a check mark replaces the number.
  3. Try it on for free. Select a piece of clothing to see it on your character before paying.
  4. Pick the colour after the style. A colour marker on the shelf means the style comes in several colours, and the colour is chosen once you have picked the style.

What costs nothing

Two things in the Shopping Mall are free and both are easy to overlook:

  • Trying clothes on. You only pay when you buy.
  • The Make-Up Salon on the 3rd floor. It changes eyes, hair, eyebrows and skin tone for free. If your character-creation choices were rushed, this is the fix.

The uniform rule

If you wear a uniform, you cannot wear tops or bottoms with it. That is the manual's rule and it applies in the Clothing menu, not at the shop, so a purchase can look available and then refuse to combine.

The practical consequence: build outfits around either a uniform or a top-plus-bottom pair, not a mixture.

Saved outfits: eight, no more

Favorites stores complete outfits so you can change in one step.

Delete a setErase it to free a slot

The cap is eight sets. That is low enough to matter: with eight slots, one slot per mood is the sensible allocation rather than one slot per outfit you like.

Special sets are not saved outfits

Two different menus hold two different things, and they are easy to confuse:

MenuHoldsLimit
FavoritesOutfits you built yourself8 sets
Partner → FriendsSpecial clothing earned through friendshipPer character

Special clothing is received from a partner whose friendship is high enough, equipped from the Partner menu, and found at the cave. It does not consume a Favorites slot.

Spending plan

  • Buy clothes before cosmetics. Clothing is visible in every mode; the Make-Up Salon is free anyway, so there is no reason to spend there.
  • Check the colour before buying. If the colour you want is not in the set, the purchase is a mistake you cannot undo cheaply.
  • Do not fill all eight slots early. You will want a slot for the outfit you actually settle on.

The friendship path to special clothing is on partner friendship; the other wallet, Waterwheel Tickets, is on waterwheel tickets.
